Between Grant HS and LA Valley Collage, next to the Orange line.
We serve students between the ages of 14-19 who dropped their gpa, fell behind on credits, had little interest in school, or required a different learning environment other than a large comprehensive high school.
We provide the opportunity to; retake courses, get ahead on credits, and/or graduate with on the job experience, and a career skills certificate!
Our students have the option to co-enroll at LA Valley College thus receiving double credits for passing college level classes.
Our mission is to provide students with personalized instruction, social-emotional support, and occupational skills which will prepare them for college and careers after high school.
The vision is to provide students with the skills, experience, and a plan to attain a job and work to pay for college or provide income to lead a comfortable life.
Because of our small class sizes we are able to provide students with personalized instruction, in-class intervention and on-going technology support. Our teachers and academic counselors work together to provide each student with their own individual graduation plan. We provide our students and parents with individual student progress reports every two weeks and acknowledge their successes at our bi-weekly school wide celebration.

Our Mission and Vision
The mission of Jack London Schools is to provide a goal-oriented learning environment that addresses the individual needs of at-risk youth by teaching academic, socio-emotional, and 21st century occupational skills so that each student may contribute to and benefit from society.
Jack London is a peaceful educational environment where each student receives a second chance at academic, socio-emotional, and college/career success. As a Linked-Learning school, we emphasize rigorous academics, career-based learning in a professional setting and integrated student supports. Through collaborative efforts we focus on project-based learning, personalized standards-based instruction and peaceful conflict resolution. We provide our students with learning opportunities to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, positive change agents, and responsible young adults who are able to collaborate effectively with others and contribute to society.

Assistant Principal's Corner
My name is Santiago Vides. I am happy to be the new assistant principal at Jack London Community Day School and Continuation High School. I enjoy working with students and parents to improve student achievement and completion of their high school diploma. I have a total of fourteen years of administrative experience in elementary through high schools levels. Also, I have nine years of classroom teaching experience in grade levels K-12. I have experience serving at-risk students and students with severe to moderate learning disabilities, as well as gifted students. I had the opportunity to serve in small schools of 100 students enrolled, as well as schools as large as 4,200 students enrolled. I have experience in budgets, school operations, personnel, Title I, and ELL Programs.
As an educator and a teacher, I believe that all students will learn if a safe and nurturing environment is provided for them at school. I am an instructional leader with a desire to collaborate, committed to fostering a positive environment and a community of learners. I am an effective bilingual communicator (English and Spanish), and value the individuality of all stakeholders.
As your new assistant principal, I look forward being supportive of established programs designed to improve student achievement and safety. I also look forward using all resources to improve the school educational programs. I am a team player and enjoy working in collaboration with school staff, parents, community members, and district administrators. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Jack London students and community.
